Cake With Frosting Recipe

A Yummy chocolate cake recipe with vanilla frosting and chocolate sprinkle garnish.

Ingredients

Cake
1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
1 1/4 cup all purpose flour
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoons baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
1 cup milk
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 teaspoons vanilla extract
Frosting
3 cups confectioners sugar
3 Tablespoons butter, at room temperature
3 Tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Garnish
1/2 cup chocolate shavings
1/8 cup chocolate sprinkles

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Grease and flour a nine inch round cake pan.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the sugar, flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt.

Using an electric mixer, Combine the dry ingredients with the eggs, oil and vanilla, and milk until well combined.

Pour into the prepared pan.

Bake 30-35 minutes or until a tester inserted in the center comes out clean.

Cool for 10 minutes, then remove to a wire rack to cool completely.

To make the frosting, In a mixing bowl, combine the sugar, butter, milk and vanilla.

Beat 3-5 minutes or until smooth and fluffy

To assemble, place cooled cake on a serving plate ad spread icing over top and sides of cake. Sprinkle with chocolate flakes and press the sprinkles into the sides of cake.
