Homemade Lemon Iced Tea Recipe

This homemade lemon ice tea is more economical then buying bottled. It also is not filled with artifical flavors and as much sugar as you will find in powdered ice tea mixes.
3 orange pekoe tea bags
3/4 cup granulated sugar (more or less to taste)
1/2 cup lemon juice
sliced fresh lemons to garnish
mint leaves to garnish
Heat the water in a large saucepan and bring to a full boil.
Shut off the heat and drop in the tea bags.
Cover the pot with a lid and let the tea steep for one hour.
Remove the tea bags. Stir the sugar into the steeped tea until dissolved. Sweeten to your own taste. The 3/4 cup is only a suggested amount, you may prefer less sugar.
Stir in the lemon juice.
Pour the tea into a large pitcher. Cover with a piece of plastic wrap if the pitcher does not have a lid.
Place into the refrigerator for a few hours until chilled.
When you serve, put a few icecubes into the glass.
Chop a lemon into wedges and place a few wedges in each glass, along with fresh mint leaves if you have them.
Pour in the chilled ice tea. You can always top up the glasses with extra chilled tea from the refrigerator.
